so awake...why?

So, I'm strangely awake and I think the best thing to do right now is write a short blog.

Went to the Doctor on Tuesday, found out that I had a mild case of strep throat, but since I had already had it for about a week, the nurse who saw me didn't prescribe me anything for it, she basically just said that it would be gone by the weekend if not sooner. At first I was a little dismayed by the fact that I wasn't given any antibiotics, but after coming home and reading up about Strep online I discovered that it really does only last for 10 days maximum whether you treat it or not, and mostly antibiotics just make you less contagious and don't always "cure" it.

So, sure enough, I had it yesterday still when I woke up, but this morning I woke up to NO sore throat! woohoo! I may be speaking too soon but I think it's gone! It might have been partly due to the fact that that I drank three beers and had a cigarette last night...but I will never know.

In other news I have been slowly tidying up the apartment in preparation for my mother's arrival on Friday and also for Chris's best friend Ben and his girlfriend Laurie who will be staying with us from Sunday till next weekend. In a few hours Chris and I will be giving this place a wall to wall scrub down. This includes moping, dusting, vacuuming, the works. Don't think I've cleaned this thoroughly since the last time my mom came to visit. She is a biiiiig neat freak so I feel it is my duty to make this place so that she has nothing to bitch about.

So, at the moment the plan is to drive out to White Plains NY to go pick up my mom from the airport around lunchtime on Friday, then take her to my great-uncle's place in Greenwich CT to hang out and have dinner with them, then drive my mom back out to her hotel in Bristol so that we can hang out all day Saturday and Sunday. At the moment all I have planned is to take her shopping, to a movie and out to eat, and that's about as far as I've gotten. Sadly, I came to the conclusion long ago that there is NOTHING to do in this town...or this STATE for that matter.

Alas I have STILL not heard from Blick Art Supplies...not entirely sure what to do about that. I am probably going to call again sometime later today just to see if she can give me an update. If she can't tell me an aproximate start date I'm just going to let her know that I will be pursuing other leads in the meantime, which I technically already have. I just don't get why it would take this long for her to ask her boss a question, or why she can't just call me and give me an update. Sometimes I really feel like no one knows the meaning of the word courtesy anymore.

I just really want to start making some money as soon as possible cause I hate the notion of not being able to at least contribute something to my rent and bills for the first time in nearly two years. I just keep kicking myself for taking that awful job which in turn made me lose out on my unemployment benefits, cause if I still had that money coming in I wouldn't be so royally fucked. Mother fucker.

Well, seeing as it's nearly 6am and I have barely slept for 4 hours, I'm gonna try to go back to bed before my day of tweaker cleaing begins.
