This week has been pretty crazy to say the least. Tuesday and Wednesday really sucked. The more I sat at home the more I really wanted to be with Chris and everyone drinking and having fun. At least I was able to teach my last Irish Step class which was pretty fun and I taught them all a hardshoe dance that they really enjoyed. Now I'm done teaching for a whole month, which will give me plenty of time to get back in shape which I plan on starting to do this week.
We were supposed to go to NYC on Thursday but ended up getting rained out so we decided to just hang out in town and just chill all day. Friday was a crazy day, got up at 5:30am so that we could take the train from New Haven to NYC and ended up arriving at around 9:30 or so. Took a cab to Battary Park and got in the first of many lines to get to the statue of liberty. Had to wait for probably 30 minutes in line just to get tickets, then another 30-45 to get to the ferry to get to the island. Spent probably 30 minutes walking around and taking pictures, then another 20 minutes in line to get to Ellis Island.
Ellis Island was fun but all of the standing and walking was aggrivating my tendonitis in my knee so I had to sit a few times. Sadly I wasn't really in the mood to do the museum thing so just kind of walked through and sat for most of it, but at the end I ended up looking up some stuff in the research library and found my great great great grandmother's file in the records. It was pretty sweet. After Ellis Island we got back on the ferry again to go back to NYC, then did some walking around. Went down to wall st, then went to get some pizza at a local place. We then walked around ground zero and looked at some of the memorial plaques and status. I can barely explain to you how creepy it was to be standing there where the towers used to be. I dunno, it's just very earie. It's almost like you can feel the horror and devistation all around you and you can sense all of the lost souls. Very humbleing experience.
Then we hopped a cab to the Brooklyn bridge and took some pictures there. Then hopped another cab to the puck building which I have always wanted to see but never had a chance to. It holds a lot of significance to me because my great great great grandfather Jacob Ottmann was the achitect who designed the buidling. I wasn't allowed to go inside the building past the lobby but I got to look at some old lithographs and the security guard was very impressed that I was related to the architect and told me I should contact the owners of the building to see if they would give me tour. I just might have to do that ;)
After that we took yet another cab down to central park so that Ben and Laurie could see the Imagine memorial and the unofficial Strawberry Fields. After this we walked a looooong long way down to a hookah bar that Chris found on his iphone and chilled there for a while. After that we took one more cab down to the hard rock cafe and looked around there for a bit and then had dinner at the ESPN zone where Chris gets an awesome discount. Finally after dinner we shopped in the giftshop for a bit and then hopped back on the train to go home. By the end of the day my feet were blistered, my knee felt like it was going to fall off and we were all exhausted, but it was a fun time. Nearly a 20 hour day from wake up to sleep.
Yesterday we slept in till around 11am and then Chris took Ben and Laurie to an outdoors sporting store called Cabela's and I stayed home and chilled out and watched tv. After that Chris and Ben decided to go hit golf balls while Laurie and I stayed at the apartment and took a nap. After that we all just kind of chilled until Chris decided to start making dinner, which we later ate and it was delicious. We watched Juno, then got ice cream and then came home, and went to bed. I originally had not planned on going to the airport with Chris to take Ben and Laurie, but at the last minute decided to go at 4am after Chris woke me up to say bye. So, off they went. It was a really fun time overall. They really enjoyed themselves and that's all that really matters.
Today has been pretty much the same as yesterday, just been chillin at home with Chris watching tv and such. He left for work a little while ago and I did a touch up dye job on my hair. For future reference, I am never using Feria hair dye ever again. I don't know why I never learn my lesson. It only lasts for like 3 days and then it just fades and fades and fades untill your essentially back to your original color. The best dye I've found so far is Garnier Nutrese. I LOVE it. Anywho, so now I'm sitting here with conditioner on my hair trying to decide what to do with my last half day of freedom. Technially I should go get my cat a new bag of his special science diet food, but I'm too lazy.
So, I start my job tomorrow. I definitately have good vibes about this job. For starters I'm not at all nervous about my first day, whereas at my last job I was so anxious I could barely sleep. As much as I say I hate retail, it is really the only job I've ever really felt comfortable doing, and I think that's why I'm not nervous. I'm sure the first day will just be learning the computer system and learning where all the products are and such. I know it will be a sinch. I am just so looking forward to meeting new people and finally have a purpose again. And making some money, which I DESPERATELY need right now since Chris has pretty much had to pay for everything for me lately, which I feel awful about.
Well, I'll be sure to blog tomorrow night when I get home from work. I get Tuesday off which is cool, so I will get to hang out with Chris. Then work Wednesday/Thursday, have Friday off, then I will probably have to work Saturday and possibly Sunday too. Just want that MONEY!!!! Can't friggin wait :)
